Desde el año 1989, el ejército español ha participado en más de sesenta operaciones en el exterior. La investigación realiza un estudio desde un punto de vista pacifista y crítico de estas operaciones. Se ha analizado el marco general de las operaciones militares en el exterior y se han analizado en profundidad las intervenciones en Afganistán, Líbano, Somalia y Haití.

Este estudio es fruto de la convocatoria de ayudas a la investigación RICIP 2009, concretamente corresponde con el proyecto de investigación Les missions militars d’Espanya a l’exterior (2009 RICIP 00008).
