The International Conference Confronting the Privatization of War and Security, held in Barcelona on November 22^nd-23^rd 2018, aims to raise awareness to the increased participation of Private Military and Security Companies (PMSCs) in conflict and homeland security settings.

El Centro Delàs de Estudios por la Paz y la Universidad Internacional por la Paz organizan el Congreso Internacional “Otra seguridad es posible. Repensando las políticas de seguridad y defensa en el ámbito global y local desde la cultura de paz”, que tendrá lugar el viernes 16 de noviembre de 2018 de 10h a 14h y de 16 a 20h en el Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB).

¿Cuáles son las alternativas al modelo de seguridad actual? ¿Qué propuestas alternativas se están construyendo a nivel local y global? ¿Qué modelo de seguridad deben impulsar las instituciones para avanzar hacia el modelo de seguridad humana? Son algunas de las grandes cuestiones sobre modelos de seguridad que abordarán las expertas que participarán en las diferentes mesas del Congreso.

The Delàs Center for Studies for Peace and the International University for Peace organize the International Congress "Another security is possible, rethinking the security and defense policies at a global and local level of the culture of peace”, which will take place on Friday 16th november of 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB).

What are the alternatives to the current security model? What alternative proposals are being built locally and globally? What security model should institutions encourage to move towards the human security model? These are some of the main questions about the security models that the congress will address, which will have a diversity of scholars, thinkers and institutional figures from the international relations environment, the culture of peace and social transformation.

¿Qué es el yihadismo? ¿Extremismo violento o terrorismo? ¿Islamofobia, un nuevo antisemitismo? Son algunas de las cuestiones que se abordarán en este encuentro que contará con reconocidas ponentes expertas como José Ángel Brandariz, Jesús Núñez Villaverde, Lurdes Vidal o Santiago Alba Rico.

The Delàs Center for Studies for Peace and the Escola de Cultura de Pau de la UAB, organize the conference "Who Assemble Conflicts and Wars? Europe's responsibilities and control mechanisms", that will take place on the afternoon May 16, 2018 in Barcelona. 

The conference will feature renowned speakers from prestigious and European and global reference organizations such as SIPRI, Safer World, Pax or Conflict Armament Research (CAR), experts in exports and weapons tracking in conflicts, to reflect on what is reality of the European arms trade to countries in situations of armed conflict and war. Issues such as current legislation and control mechanisms for European arms exports, as well as the breaches that are taking place, will be addressed, motivating the European armament to end up in the hands of the actors of the conflicts that devastate regions such as the East. Middle or Africa.
